Hey guys, it’s been a while since I review anything from Smileage. The main reason being that I was super busy when they were adding new members and two of the original members were leaving around the same time. Smileage is back with a brand new single called Tabidachi no Haru ga Kita which means basically that spring departures has come. It’s spring and we are all ready to move on to new things like me finally moving on to a different job position compare to my old one.
When I first watching the music video I had to rewind the beginning for the main fact that one of the members is not wearing a short skirt. Smileage’s trademark, according to Tsunku, has always been short mini skirts which is why the new members’ skirts were cut short when they was introduce to the public as new members (until they jump through a bunch of hoops to become full-fledge members). Besides a small change in wardrobe from one of the members, I actually like the song. I can’t remember the last time I like an Smileage song.
The video is perfect. While it still follows the hello! project video format: kawaii close-ups, dance cuts, and solo cuts. I think it has that spring feeling and the lighting in the music video helps. The room the girls dance in is very bright compare to room where they are doing their kawaii solo-shots until they push the curtain aside to let the light in to let us know spring has come.
